New York PSC adopts energy storage road map
New York will deploy 6 GW of energy storage by 2030 under a framework approved Thursday by the New York Public Service
It has 9.4GW of energy storage to its name with more than 225 energy storage projects scattered across the globe, operating in 47 markets. It also operates 24.1GW of AI-optimised renewables and storage, applied in some of the most demanding industrial applications.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the New York State Public Service Commission approved a new framework for the State to achieve a nation-leading six gigawatts of energy storage by 2030, which represents at least 20 percent of the peak electricity load of New York State.
Comments submitted to the PSC by LDES technology developers Form Energy, Hydrostor and Plug Power cheered the recommendations, with Form Energy recommending multi-day storage projects be included in all future grid planning processes and Hydrostor advocating for projects greater than 100 MW.
Energy storage technology allows for a flexible grid with enhanced reliability and power quality. Due to the rising demand for energy storage, propelled further by the need for renewable energy supply at peak times, energy storage facilities and producers have grown tremendously in recent years.
